Recent LOL and SRB moments

I'd like to share a few things that recently made me laugh out loud and smile real big.

The reviews on this site for Movies 8 Theater.

After blues dancing with some friends one evening, I had this experience which I then posted on Overheard @ BYU 's facebook page. It now has 150 likes.
"At Alpine Village, guy on the top floor talking into a megaphone, 'Dude! Get out of your car and walk her to her door!'"

This blog. Holy Cow this blog. Finish swallowing anything you might be eating/drinking and go to a room that allows noise before you read any of his posts, because you will burst out laughing and not be able to stop. It Just Gets Stranger.

A fantastic quote from a strange boy who has a youtube channel: "Oh, that new Lady Gaga song... it was like Madonna and the devil had a baby and that baby would not. stop. crying!"

Sweet song and video about improving the world by spreading 10 second good deeds- One Day.

A cover of Half of My Heart that is striking in multiple ways.

One of those rare scenes from Flight of the Conchords that is both hilarious and clean:

Epic song and band I am now in love with - Celtic Thunder.

You're welcome.

Past Quotes Log

So, I was going through my blog history (instead of working on my paper because I'm actually really good at procrastinating) and I found a lot of very small quote-posts. So I decided to delete them and combine them all in one big-ish post of multiple, random quotes. If that made any sense. So here they are.

"The only true wisdom consists of knowing that you know nothing." -Socrates

Ἀνάγκᾳ δ’οὐδὲ θεοὶ μάχονται
"Even the Gods do not fight necessity"

Being Noticed
Every so often, I like to stick my head out the window, look up, and smile for a satellite picture.
-Steven Wright

Potential
"Who said, who said I can't be superman?

I say, I say that I know I can!"

Fishlegs: [to Tuffnut] Your mom let you get a tattoo?
Tuffnut: It's not a tattoo, it's a birth mark!
Ruffnut: Okay, I've been stuck with you since birth and that was never there before.
Tuffnut: Yes it was! You've just never seen me from the left side before.

Reality Check:
Astronomy professor in regards to infinities:
"It's just one of those rude moments, when the universe grabs you and smacks you on the cheek and tells you that your simple way of thinking just won't work."

Mixed Up Advice
"You know what they say... when two peas in a haystack close your window... you just gotta stop and smell the doors. That's my life right there in an egg shell."

-Bryson Toth

Sherlock:
"Funniest thing I've heard all week: Anderson, don't speak out loud. You lower the IQ of the whole street."

What's the Phrase and Absent Watches

Lyrics to one of the funniest song I've ever heard. Bolded part is my favorite.

Laundry day
See you there
Under things
Tumbling
Wanna say
Love your hair
Here I go
Mumbling

With my freeze ray I will stop the world
With my freeze ray I will
find the time to find the words to-

Tell you how
How you make
Make me feel
What’s the phrase?
Like a fool
Kinda sick
Special needs
Anyways

With my freeze ray I will stop the pain
It’s not a death ray or an ice beam
That’s all Johnny Snow
I just think you need time to know

That I’m the guy to make it real
The feelings you don’t dare to feel
I’ll bend the world to our will
And we’ll make time stand still

That’s the plan
Rule the world
You and me
Any day

Also- One of the funniest quotes I've ever heard. From the same musical as the song above.

-Oh goodness, look at my wrist! I gotta go!
~Wait- but what about your clothes?
-Hmm, I don't love these. See ya later!
(they were at a laundromat- mind outta the gutter!)

Youtubes

Over the last week I've needed a lot of music and humor to get me through studying. I've found that I like a lot of Jon Schmidt's work. Here are some of my favorite youtubes that saved me from lasting insanity (I'm not going to rule it out completely):

Pain
A Drop in the Ocean
Soaring
Jeffery is Bored
All of Me
Before the Morning
The Sound of Rain
Pachabel meets U2
Prank
Sacred Ground
Rubik's Cube
Elisha and Jared
Long Ago

Hidden Wedding
Pirates
Mad World

Airplane Story

A Place for Us

Here It Goes Again

I may make this a regularly updated post with any youtubes I want to share. We shall see.
Enjoy!

His Hands

I heard this song today in Sacrament Meeting, played by John Shumway and sung by Danika Montgomery. It really touched me. Here are the lyrics and a link to the song on youtube.

HIS HANDS
~ Kenneth Cope

his hands
tools of creation
stronger than nations
power without end
and yet through them we find our truest friend
his hands
sermons of kindness
healing men's blindness
halting years of pain
children waiting to be held again

his hands would serve his whole life though
showing man what hands might do
giving, ever giving, endlessly
each day was filled with selflessness
and i'll not rest until i make up my hands what they could be
'til these hands become like those from galilee

his hands
lifting a leper
warming a beggar
calling back the dead
breaking bread, five thousand fed
his hands
hushing contention
pointing to heaven
ever free of sin
then bidding man to follow him

his hands would serve his whole life though
showing man what hands might do
giving, ever giving, endlessly
each day was filled with selflessness
and i'll not rest until i make up my hands what they could be
'til these hands become like those from galilee

his hands
clasped in agony
as he he lay pleading, bleeding in the garden
while just moments away
other hands betray him
out of greed, shameful greed
and then his hands
are trembling
straining to carry the beam that they've been led to
as he stumbles through the streets
heading towards the hill on which he died
he would die
they take his hands, his mighty hands, those gentle hands
and then they pierce them, they pierce them
he lets them, because of love
from birth to death was selflessness
and clearly now i see him with his hands
calling to me
and though i'm not yet as i would be
he has shown me how i could be
i will make my hands like those from galilee

Albums

So, I got this idea from a friend, to randomly generate what your 'first band name and album' will look like. It's pretty fun. I've made a few (I actually made two 'album covers' for one of the band names I liked) and even one for Clara. Here are some, click on them to see a bigger image:

Time

This is how I'm feeling right now with finals approaching and so much to get done.

Time

by Chantal Kreviazuk

Time, where did you go?
Why did you leave me here alone?
Wait, don’t go so fast

I’m missing the moments as they pass
Now I’ve looked in the mirror and the worlds getting clearer

So wait for me this time

I’m down I’m down on my knees I’m begging for all your sympathy

But you (I’m just an illusion) you don’t seem to care (I wish that I could)

You humble people everywhere (I don’t mean to hurt you)

Now I’ve looked in the mirror and the worlds getting clearer

I’ll take what you give me, please know that I’m learning

So wait for me this time

I should’ve know better
I shouldn’t have wasted those days
And afternoons and mornings
I threw them all away
Now this is my time
I’m going to make this moment mine.
(I shouldn’t have wasted those days)
I’ll take what you give me, please know that I’m learning

I’ve looked in the mirror

My world’s getting clearer

So wait for me this time

No One

I am moving through the crowd
Trying to find myself
Feel like a guitar that's never played
Will someone strum away?

And I ask myself
Who do I wanna be?
Do I wanna throw away the key?
and invent a whole new me
and I tell myself
No One, No One
Don't wanna be
No One
But me...

You are moving through the crowd
Trying to find yourself
Feelin' like a doll left on a shelf
Will someone take you down?

And you ask yourself
Who do I wanna be?
Do I wanna throw away the key?
and invent a whole new me
Gotta tell yourself
No One, No One
Don't wanna be
No One
But me

No One, Aly&AJ
